Redragon K617 Fizz 60% Mechanical Keyboard – Detailed Review
The Redragon K617 Fizz is a compact 60% mechanical keyboard designed to offer an excellent balance of affordability, performance, and customization options for both newcomers and seasoned users. Its 60% layout is ideal for those who prefer a more minimalist desk setup, as it omits the function row, arrow keys, and the number pad, offering a sleek, space-saving design.
Build Quality and Design
– Compact Form Factor: The K617 Fizz has a 60% layout, meaning it’s smaller and lighter than a full-sized or even a tenkeyless (TKL) keyboard. This makes it highly portable and ideal for those with limited desk space.
– Durable Construction: While it’s made mostly of plastic, the build feels solid and sturdy. The keyboard features a matte finish that helps reduce fingerprints, maintaining its clean aesthetic.
– RGB Backlighting: One of the standout features is its customizable RGB lighting. With multiple lighting effects and color options, you can personalize the look of the keyboard to suit your setup. The backlighting is bright and even, enhancing both the visual appeal and functionality, especially in low-light environments.
Performance and Typing Experience
– Switches: The K617 Fizz comes equipped with Redragon’s mechanical switches, which are comparable to Cherry MX Reds, offering smooth and quiet keypresses. While the switches are not as premium as high-end alternatives, they still provide a satisfying typing experience for the price.
– Hot-Swap Capability: A key feature that makes this keyboard stand out is its hotswap functionality, allowing users to swap out switches without soldering. This is perfect for beginners who want to experiment with different switch types and even mod the keyboard in the future.
– Keycap Quality: The keycaps are made from ABS plastic, which is durable but can wear down over time. They offer a decent feel but might not be as premium as higher-end keycaps like PBT.
Connectivity
– Wired Connection: The K617 Fizz uses a USB-C wired connection, which ensures fast and reliable input with minimal latency. While it doesn’t support wireless connectivity, the wired setup is ideal for gamers or those who prefer consistent performance without worrying about battery life.
Customization and Modding
Software Support: Redragon provides software for customizing the RGB lighting, macros, and key remapping, allowing you to fine-tune the keyboard to your liking. However, the software can be a bit clunky and not as refined as those from more premium brands.
– Hot-Swappable: The K617 Fizz’s hot-swap functionality is a big plus for modders. You can easily change out switches without soldering, making it more future-proof and ideal for users who like experimenting with different switch types.
Pros
– Affordable price for a 60% keyboard with hotswap capability.
– Compact and space-saving design.
– Customizable RGB lighting with multiple effects.
– Hot-swappable switches for future modding.
– Good performance for gaming and general use.
Cons
– ABS keycaps feel less premium compared to PBT keycaps.
– Software is not as polished or user-friendly as other premium brands.
– No wireless support for those who prefer Bluetooth or wireless connections.
Final Verdict
The Redragon K617 Fizz is an excellent entry-level mechanical keyboard, offering great value for its price. It combines a compact design, solid build quality, customizable RGB lighting, and hot-swap functionality, making it a solid choice for gamers and casual users alike. While the keycaps and software could be improved, its overall performance and customization options make it a top contender in the budget mechanical keyboard category. Perfect for those looking to get into the mechanical keyboard world without breaking the bank!

The experience with the keys is just superb. They are buttery smooth and provide satisfying feedback with each press. Typing on this keyboard is a joy, and it has significantly improved my typing speed and accuracy. My hands feel comfortable even after long hours of use, which is a huge plus.

Since this is my first time purchasing a mechanical keyboard so I am pretty confused with the keyboards currently available in the 2500-3000 price bracket. But I settled on this one because
– of the key quality and sound and the overall build quality is pretty good.
– It has four brightness level which is visible even in a bright lighting condition.
– In terms of comfort on every key press, it is very smooth and you will get a decent feedback.
– one of the biggest plus point is, you are getting software support which is so usefull if you are like me who is gonna do lots of RGB customisation and also setting up different macros to improve your productivity.
*I felt key stability, could be further improved .
Well overall this is a pretty good keyboard and if you are going to do gaming and coding(for the coders – this keyboard has no dedicated arrow keys thats kind of a hassle but you can set some macros) then just go for it!

Finalizando, pessoalmente eu amei!
